Website Terms

Terms governing your access to and use of the Sortie Projects website and related network services at sortieprojects.com.

Last updated September 9, 2026

Acceptance of these terms

These Website Terms (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Sortie Projects website, applications, and related online services operated by Sortie Projects (together, the “Site” and the “Services”), including sortieprojects.com and any pages, portals, or tools we make available through them.

By accessing or using the Site or Services, creating an account, submitting an application, or otherwise indicating acceptance, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or Services.

If you use the Site or Services on behalf of a company or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes that organization.

Who may use the Site

You may use the Site only if you can form a binding contract with Sortie Projects and only in compliance with these Terms and applicable law.

The Services are intended for individuals who are at least the age of majority in their place of residence (and in any event at least 18 years old) and for companies and other organizations seeking to engage professional talent. You may not use the Site if you are barred from doing so under applicable law or if we have previously suspended or terminated your access.

Company accounts and talent accounts

Sortie Projects offers account types suited to different roles on the platform, including accounts for companies (or other hiring organizations) and accounts for talent (individual professionals seeking network membership or engagement opportunities).

You are responsible for providing accurate registration information, keeping your credentials confidential, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at hello@sortieprojects.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

Company accounts may only be used by authorized representatives of the organization. Talent accounts are personal to the individual applicant or member and may not be shared or transferred without our prior written consent.

We may refuse, suspend, or limit accounts where we reasonably believe information is inaccurate, activity violates these Terms, or use presents risk to the network, other users, or Sortie Projects.

Network membership and vetting

Sortie Projects operates an AI-vetted talent network and marketplace focused on connecting companies with skilled professionals, with particular emphasis on talent across Africa. Admission to the network is selective and is not automatic upon application or account creation.

Vetting may include skills assessments, interviews (including AI-assisted interviews), profile review, reference or background checks where permitted, and other evaluation steps we deem appropriate. Completing any step of the process does not guarantee acceptance into the network, visibility to companies, matching, or any engagement.

We may accept, defer, or decline applications at our discretion, and we may invite, suspend, or remove members from the network where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect quality, integrity, security, or compliance. We do not guarantee that any applicant will be admitted or that any member will remain admitted indefinitely.

Engagements, trials, and our platform role

Sortie Projects facilitates introductions, matching, and related tools that may help companies and talent discover each other and explore working together. Unless we expressly agree otherwise in a separate written agreement with you, Sortie Projects is not a party to any employment, contractor, or services agreement between a company and talent.

Any engagement, trial, paid project, or similar arrangement between a company and talent is solely between those parties. They are responsible for negotiating terms, classifying the relationship correctly under applicable law, paying amounts due, obtaining required visas or work authorizations, withholding taxes, and complying with labor, tax, and other legal requirements.

We may provide optional features such as shortlists, messaging, trial workflows, or status tracking. Those features do not make Sortie Projects an employer, staffing agency, joint employer, or guarantor of performance, payment, or outcome unless a separate written agreement expressly says so.

Sortie Projects does not guarantee that any company will hire or engage any talent, that any talent will accept an opportunity, or that any introduction or match will result in a successful engagement.

Prohibited conduct

You agree not to misuse the Site or Services. Without limiting the foregoing, you must not:

  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
  • Provide false, misleading, or incomplete information in profiles, applications, assessments, or communications.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation, skills, experience, or authorization to act for an organization.
  • Circumvent, manipulate, or interfere with vetting, matching, assessment integrity, or anti-fraud controls.
  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from the Site without our prior written permission.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data, or probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems except with our explicit written authorization.
  • Upload malware, spam users, harass others, or use the Services to send unsolicited commercial messages.
  • Use the network to solicit or engage talent or companies in a manner that intentionally undermines Sortie Projects’ platform role where doing so violates a separate agreement you have with us.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Services except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by law.
  • Use the Site in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Services or interfere with any other party’s use.

Intellectual property

The Site, Services, branding, design, text, graphics, software, and other materials provided by Sortie Projects are owned by Sortie Projects or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property and other laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of any Sortie Projects intellectual property to you.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Site and Services for their intended purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from our materials except as expressly permitted by us in writing or by mandatory law.

All trademarks, service marks, and logos displayed on the Site are the property of Sortie Projects or their respective owners. You may not use them without prior written permission from the applicable owner.

User content

You may submit or upload content to the Services, including profile information, résumés, portfolios, messages, assessment responses, interview recordings or transcripts (where enabled), feedback, and other materials (“User Content”).

You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant Sortie Projects a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt, display, and otherwise use User Content as needed to operate, improve, secure, and provide the Services, to facilitate matching and introductions, and as otherwise described in our privacy practices or agreed with you.

You represent that you have all rights necessary to submit User Content and that it does not infringe others’ rights or violate law. We may remove or restrict User Content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or poses risk to users or the platform.

Feedback you provide about the Services may be used by Sortie Projects without obligation to you.

AI interview and assessment tooling

Sortie Projects may use artificial intelligence and automated tools as part of interviews, skills assessments, scoring, integrity signals, matching, and related evaluation workflows. These tools are designed to support—not replace—human judgment in operating a selective network, and outputs may include scores, summaries, flags, or recommendations.

AI and automated outputs can be incomplete, inaccurate, or biased. You should not treat any score, flag, transcript, summary, or match signal as a definitive statement about a person’s abilities, character, or suitability. Companies and talent remain responsible for their own hiring and engagement decisions.

You agree to participate in assessments and interviews honestly and without unauthorized assistance. Attempting to cheat, spoof identity, manipulate recordings, or otherwise undermine assessment integrity is a material breach of these Terms and may result in denial of membership, removal from the network, or account termination.

Where legally required, we will provide additional notices or choices about automated processing. Nothing in this section limits rights you may have under applicable data-protection or employment law.

Disclaimers

THE SITE AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SORTIE PROJECTS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Without limiting the foregoing, we do not warrant that the Site or Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; that vetting or AI tooling will identify every risk or accurately evaluate every candidate; that matches or introductions will meet your expectations; or that any company or talent will perform as represented.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers. In those jurisdictions, the disclaimers above apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SORTIE PROJECTS AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR SERVICES, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO SORTIE PROJECTS FOR THE SERVICES GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100).

The limitations in this section do not exclude or limit liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion is prohibited.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Sortie Projects and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Site or Services; (b) your User Content; (c) your breach of these Terms; (d) your violation of applicable law or third-party rights; or (e) any engagement, trial, or dispute between you and another user (including between a company and talent), except to the extent caused by Sortie Projects’ willful misconduct.

Termination

You may stop using the Site and Services at any time and may request closure of your account by contacting hello@sortieprojects.com.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site or Services, or remove you from the network, at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or possible legal exposure for Sortie Projects or other users, or if we discontinue the Services in whole or in part.

Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases. Provisions that by their nature should survive—including ownership, User Content licenses granted to the extent needed for archival or legal compliance, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law—will survive termination.

Governing law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Services will be governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where Sortie Projects operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Courts located in that jurisdiction will have non-exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any mandatory consumer or other protections that apply to you under the law of your place of residence.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice as appropriate (for example, by posting on the Site or sending an email to an address associated with your account).

Changes become effective when posted unless a later effective date is stated. Your continued use of the Site or Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Site and Services.
