How Sortie Projects collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use our AI-vetted freelance talent marketplace.

Last updated September 9, 2026

Who we are

Sortie Projects (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates an AI-vetted freelance talent marketplace focused on connecting skilled professionals across Africa with companies that need vetted freelance talent. Our website is available at https://sortieprojects.com.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. It applies when you visit our site, create an account, apply for or complete vetting, post or manage hiring needs, communicate with us, or otherwise interact with Sortie Projects.

If you have questions about this policy or how we handle personal data, contact us at hello@sortieprojects.com.

Data we collect

We collect personal data that you provide directly, data generated through your use of the platform, and limited data from third parties where needed to operate matching, assessments, and hiring introductions.

  • Account data: name, email address, password or authentication credentials, role (talent or company), profile details, location or timezone preferences, and communication preferences.
  • Application and vetting data: portfolio links, work history, skills, rates, availability, answers to application questions, assessment responses, interview recordings or transcripts where applicable, and outcomes of our review process.
  • Company hiring data: company name, hiring contact details, role requirements, budget ranges, project descriptions, evaluation notes, and records of interest or introductions.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, features used, device and browser type, approximate location derived from IP address, referral source, session timestamps, and similar analytics signals.
  • Communications: messages you send to us or through the platform, support requests, feedback, and related metadata such as timestamps.

How we use personal data

We use personal data to operate, improve, and secure Sortie Projects, and to deliver the marketplace services you request.

  • Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and provide customer support.
  • Match talent with company needs based on skills, experience, availability, and hiring criteria.
  • Run assessments, AI-assisted interviews, and related evaluation workflows that inform vetting decisions.
  • Generate and review integrity and proctoring signals intended to detect misuse, impersonation, or other conduct that undermines assessment fairness.
  • Facilitate hiring introductions and share relevant profile or application information with companies according to the interest and introduction rules described below.
  • Send service notices, security alerts, and—where permitted—product updates or marketing communications you can opt out of.
  • Analyze platform performance, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.

Sharing of personal data

We do not sell personal data. We share personal data only as needed to operate the marketplace, complete introductions, work with service providers, or meet legal requirements.

Companies: When a company expresses interest in a talent profile, or when we facilitate an introduction under our matching process, we may share talent profile information, vetting summaries, and relevant application materials with that company. We do not expose full assessment recordings or internal integrity tooling outputs to companies unless needed for a specific hiring decision and consistent with our product rules. Talent may also see limited company and role information needed to evaluate an opportunity.

Processors and service providers: We use vendors that process data on our behalf—for example hosting, analytics, email delivery, customer support tooling, assessment or interview infrastructure, and security monitoring. These providers are authorized to process personal data only as instructed by us and for the purposes we specify.

Legal and safety: We may disclose personal data if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of Sortie Projects, our users, or the public.

Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and continuity of privacy protections.

AI processing

Sortie Projects uses artificial intelligence and automated systems to support talent matching, interview facilitation, assessment scoring assistance, summarization of application materials, and integrity or proctoring signal analysis. These systems help us scale consistent evaluation; they do not replace all human judgment in final marketplace decisions.

AI processing may involve analyzing profile content, assessment answers, interview audio or transcripts, and related metadata to produce scores, summaries, flags, or recommendations. We configure these systems for marketplace operations and instruct processors not to use your personal data to train their general-purpose models where we have contractual control to prevent that use.

You should not submit information in assessments or interviews that you do not want processed for evaluation purposes. If you believe an automated outcome was inaccurate or unfair, contact hello@sortieprojects.com so we can review.

Retention

We retain personal data for as long as needed to provide the services, maintain account history relevant to matching and hiring, meet legal or accounting requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Account and profile data are generally kept while your account remains active. Application, assessment, interview, and introduction records may be retained for a longer period where they are needed to document vetting history, support rematching, or defend against claims. Usage logs and security records are retained for shorter operational windows unless a longer period is required for investigations or compliance.

When data is no longer needed, we delete it or irreversibly anonymize it so it can no longer reasonably identify you.

Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include access controls, encryption in transit where appropriate, monitoring, and vendor due diligence.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for promptly notifying us at hello@sortieprojects.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

International transfers

Sortie Projects serves users across Africa and may also work with companies, talent, and service providers in other countries. Personal data may therefore be processed in countries other than the one where you live, including jurisdictions with different data protection laws.

Where we transfer personal data internationally, we take steps intended to provide appropriate safeguards—such as contractual protections with processors and careful selection of service providers—consistent with applicable law and the nature of the marketplace services we offer.

Your rights

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, update, or delete personal data we hold about you; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and to receive a portable copy of data you provided to us.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your jurisdiction. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.

To exercise privacy rights, email hello@sortieprojects.com with enough detail for us to verify your identity and respond. We may need to retain certain information where required by law, for legitimate business records, or to complete introductions already in progress.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure traffic and feature usage, and help secure the platform. Some cookies are essential to site operation; others support analytics or product improvement.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may limit account or marketplace functionality. Where required by law, we will present additional consent choices for non-essential cookies.

Children

Sortie Projects is intended for adults seeking professional freelance work or hiring services. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact hello@sortieprojects.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or operational practices. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the site or by email.

Continued use of Sortie Projects after an updated policy takes effect means you acknowledge the revised terms of this Privacy Policy.
